Installation Notes & Warnings

READ THESE NOTES/WARNINGS – BEFORE YOU INSTALL TILECREST TILES

 

    • Tilecrest® and the Tilecrest® Distributor cannot guarantee that the provided material will match 100% the sample from which the order was placed – If there is any question as to the material’s appropriateness, the MATERIAL MUST NOT BE INSTALLED

    • Prior to Installation, Buyer/Installer/End User must inspect all of the material for proper series, color, shade, etc.  and determine that the correct material has been supplied – MATERIAL MUST NOT BE INSTALLED BEFORE THIS IS DONE
    • .
    • If any issues are found or questions of suitability raised, Buyer/Installer/End User must contact the Tilecrest® Distributor so that the material can be inspected – MATERIAL MUST NOT BE INSTALLED BEFORE THIS IS DONE
    • .
    • If the End User is not present to inspect the material prior to installation and Buyer/Installer installs the material and only after installation, the End User determines that the material is not correct, Tilecrest® and the Tilecrest® Distributor will not be liable for the replacement of the installed product (including but not limited to removal and re-installation fees)

    • INSTALLATION CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE – ONCE INSTALLED, TILECREST® AND THE TILECREST DISTRIBUTOR ASSUME NO LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATED TO PRODUCT ACCEPTIBILITY, PRODUCT APPROPRIATENESS, SERIES TYPE, SIZE, COLOR, TEXTURING, SURFACE GLAZE, SURFACE TREATMENT, SURFACE APPEARANCE, ETC.

    • If marks or discolorations of any type are found on the surface of a piece of tile, THE TILE PIECE MUST NOT BE INSTALLED UNLESS THE MARK(S) OR DISCOLORATIONS ARE REMOVED.  Tilecrest® and the Tilecrest® Distributor shall not be held liable for replacement costs (including but not limited to removal and re-installation fees) for tiles installed with these types of issues.

    • Ceramic/Porcelain tile requires a substrate that is of an appropriate material such as concrete or cement-backer board and must be free of dust and other deleterious substances at the time of application.  Ceramic/Porcelain tile should NEVER be installed directly onto a wood floor.
    • .
    • Porcelain body tile requires specialized thin set mortars modified for proper adherence to tile and substrate.  Tilecrest® and the Tilecrest® Distributor will not be held liable for any tile installation problems encountered as a result of the use of improper adhesives.

    • Grout used on Polished-glaze porcelain tile and Polished porcelain tile should match the tile in color. If other than matching grout color is used, Tilecrest® and the Tilecrest® Distributor recommend that a grout release be applied on the tile before grouting to permit grout removal.  Grout, once applied, must be cleaned off of Ceramic/Porcelain tile immediately.  Tilecrest® and the Tilecrest® Distributor will not be held liable for any issues arising from grout staining or grout left on tiles or the resultant residues or hazing.

    •  The polished surface of Polished-Glaze Porcelain and Polished Porcelain tile is susceptible to the effects of acid-based cleaners and other harsh chemicals.  Such cleaners should not be used to clean Polished-Glaze and Polished Porcelain tiles, and if they are, TILECREST® AND THE TILECREST® DISTRIBUTOR SHALL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR LOSS OF POLISH DUE TO ETCHING AND OTHER POSSIBLE ISSUES CAUSED BY THE ACID OR HARSH CHEMICALS. – ALWAYS TEST A SMALL OUT OF THE WAY AREA FIRST BEFORE GENERAL APPLICATION.

    JOINT SIZE & TILE PLACEMENT

     

    • 12”x12,“ 13”x13,” ”20”x20,” 24”x24” and Similar Square-Dimensioned, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles Should Have at Least a 3/16” Grout Joint.  FOR 12"x12" and 13"x13" SIZES, ANY JOINT WIDTH SMALLER THAN 1/8", VOIDS WARRANTY - FOR 20"x20" and 24"x24" SIZES, ANY JOINT WIDTH SMALLER THAN 3/16 ” VOIDS WARRANTY
    • 10”x20,” 12”x24” and Similar Rectangular, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles Must Have at Least a 3/16” Grout Joint.  ANY JOINT SIZE SMALLER THAN 3/16” VOIDS WARRANTY
    6”x24,” 5”x32,” 8"x36," and Similar Planking-Size, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles Must Have at Least a 3/16” Grout Joint.  ANY JOINT SIZE SMALLER THAN 3/16” VOIDS WARRANTY
    • 6”x24,” 5”x32,” and Similar Planking-Size, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles  as well as 10”x20,” 12”x24” and Similar Rectangular, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles should be installed with a maximum end offset from the beginning of one adjacent tile to the other of no more than 7” for 20” long tiles, 8” for 24” long tiles and 12” for 36” long tiles or no more than one-third (1/3rd) the length of the longest side of the tile. 
    Installing12"x12," 13"x13" and larger Square format tile, 6”x24,” 5”x32,” and Similar Planking-Size, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles as well as 10”x20,” 12”x24” and Similar Rectangular, Glazed, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles in a (one-half tile) FULL BRICK PATTERN VOIDS WARRANTY. Sq_No Broken Joint
